Frank Weaver Margrett was born in Reading in 1867 the eldest of 5 boys and lived in a private house in Sonning until he went to boarding school at "Weston School", Weston, Somerset. He married Alice Cann and by 1901 was living at battersea with her and his three small children, Murial, Herbert and Kathleen. He started working for The Association of Diamond Merchants Limited, Trafalger Square when he was only 19 years old and became a director of the company spending much of his time out in the Far East. This continent hopping allowed him to set up his own company in 1909 trading gems, gold, silver, niello and oriental artifacts which by 1938 had its base at 'Tewkesbury House', 179-181 New Road, Bangkok. He retired to Bangkok and died a pauper there in 1940 aged 73.
